A BIT ABOUT US

One Step With You is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the State of California.

One Step With You was inspired by the story of a close friend who faced severe challenges when she began university. With only a backpack and a few belongings, she had to use her backpack as a pillow and her hoodie as a blanket. Seeing her struggle with such basic needs during an already difficult transition deeply affected me and motivated me to create a support system for students in similar situations. My goal is to ensure that every student has access to essential resources so they can focus on their studies rather than on survival. As a high school student myself, I know the hard work and dedication it takes to pursue higher education, and I believe that no one should have the added burden of worrying about meeting their basic needs along the way.

One Step With You's mission is to support financially disadvantaged college students transitioning to university by providing them with essential items for their transition to higher education. By donating $174, you can directly support one student, providing vital necessities like blankets, toiletries, and other essentials, helping them focus on their future, and not their survival.

It's only one small step, but an important one.

FAQ

How will you get the supplies to the students in need?

I will go through their school counselor.

Do you decide as to whom the packages are handed out?

No, the school counselor decides that. Package recipients are anonymous. The school counselor will have a better idea of the socioeconomic and academic stance of each of the students. I provide the school counselor with the care packages and have them decide who to give them out to.

How do you get feedback?

Each cycle of students is sent a google form to fill out, by their counselor. The form is anonymous. There, I get feedback and learn how to improve my organization.

What will you provide for the students?

To learn more about the care packages, please go to the "Care Packages" page. There is more detailed information there :)

What is your target age and social class?

Students with a low socioeconomic status. The students will be in transition from high school to a four-year college.

Would you like us to donate anything besides money?

No thank you, money is all I need to make sure that I can get the right materials.

Will you use the money for anything besides the student’s care items?

No, I will only use it for care items.
